Title:                       Director of Music Ministry/Accompanist


Job Type:                Part-time


Work Hours:          Estimate 15 hours/week; flexible in arrangement with Senior Pastor; to include special services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Moravian Love Fest.


Reports to:             Senior Pastor


Evaluated by:         Staff/Parish Relations Committee and Senior Pastor


Salary:                     $20,000 - $23,000 annually.  Payments made bi-monthly according to Mebane payroll schedule

 

Position Summary

The Director of Music Ministry/Accompanist, in consultation with the Senior Pastor, leads the ministry of music throughout the life of the church.

 

  •         Accompany the congregational music on the piano and the pipe organ.
  •         Provide voluntaries; direct/accompany Chancel Choir with a blend of traditional and modern music styles for Sunday worship services.
  •         Provide music for weddings, funerals, etc. (This is voluntary based on availability and entails further remuneration).
  •         Develop the congregation’s musical gifts as a means of aid to worship, leading the congregation to minister to each other through music, encouraging the fellowship of individuals and groups who share an appreciation of music.

Position Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and lead the ministry of music: 

  •         Assist the pastor in planning musical selections for congregational services of the church.
  •         Direct/Accompany the Chancel Choir in worship services and cultivate the musical gifts of Chancel Choir.
  •         Schedule and lead practices of all music teams.
  •         Organize and oversee all choral, handbell, and musical group activities for all ages as growth provides.
  •         Encourage and lead the development of additional choral and/or instrumental groups within the congregation.
  •         Encourage and recruit members of the congregation of all ages to offer their musical gifts in the service of Christ.
  •         Lead the Chancel Choir to present occasional larger choral works (e.g. Christmas and Easter cantatas).
  •         Attend staff and program meetings, when needed, to provide guidance and to assist in planning to ensure a high-quality music        ministry program.
  •     Comply with copyright laws when copying music.
